How would I go about getting cash assistance during maternity leave?
I am pregnant and due on 7/30. I will be a single mother and work full time and I would like to stay working until the very last moment possible. I do have Short Term Disability insurance through my employer but they only pay up to 50% of my pay each check period to a max of $125 (which is nothing not even 50% of my check!) and I wanted to stay off for at least 1 1/2 to 2 months but living off of $125 a week is impossible especially if I have to continue to pay my premium each week in order for me to continue to have the Short Term Disability which will technically leave me with around 80 each week. So my question is, is there anything out there in the state of Michigan that would help me out in a situation like this whether from state assistance, unemployment, section 8 for the rent, or whatever to help me out. The only reason I want 2 even stay out that long is because I am epileptic and I need to get my child used to a schedule in a sense so I have a decent amount of sleep so I don't fall into a seizure (outside of that, my mother will be helping me with the baby so Im not all alone as far as "babysitting") i just need help with the money portion. Sorry this is so much to read but any advice is good advice!! THANKS!!!
