Would it be safe to take medical marijuana?

I am an epileptic living in California. I am currently on Topamax and Lamictal for my epilepsy. I was told I might qualify for medical marijuana with my depression. However, before i go to a doctor I want to see if anyone knows whether or not I can even take marijuana with those. I just don't want to waste my time going to the doctor if I can't mix those
